Preservación digital
Editorial Unión Científica is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published works to ensure they remain available for future generations of researchers, academics, and readers. In this regard, we implement a digital preservation policy based on the following international practices:
-
Redundant backups: Multiple copies of each publication are maintained in secure storage systems, distributed across various geographic locations to prevent loss due to technical failures, natural disasters, or cyberattacks.
-
Standard file formats: All documents are stored in widely recognized and standard digital formats, such as PDF/A, ensuring long-term accessibility and compatibility with future technologies.
-
Integration with preservation networks: We collaborate with international digital preservation networks, such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), which support long-term preservation through distributed systems.
-
Use of persistent identifiers: A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is assigned to each work, facilitating online location and ensuring its persistence even if the original URL changes.
-
Periodic updates and monitoring: We continuously monitor storage systems and update the technologies used to adapt to advances in digital data management.
