Conflict of interest
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Editorial Unión Científica is committed to ensuring integrity and transparency at every stage of the editorial process. To this end, we establish guidelines for identifying, declaring, and managing potential conflicts of interest that may arise among authors, reviewers, editors, or other participants in the publication process.
Definition of conflict of interest
A conflict of interest occurs when the personal, financial, academic, or professional interests of one of the parties involved in the editorial process could influence, or be perceived to influence, the objectivity and impartiality of their decisions or actions.
Declaration of conflict of interest
By authors
-
Authors must declare any personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationships that could be interpreted as a conflict of interest in the development, analysis, or publication of their manuscript.
-
This information should be included in a specific section of the manuscript entitled "Conflict of Interest Declaration."
By reviewers
-
Reviewers must refrain from evaluating manuscripts if there is a direct relationship with the authors (recent co-authorship, academic supervision, professional collaboration, etc.) or if their personal or financial interests could compromise their impartiality.
By editors
-
Editors responsible for a manuscript must recuse themselves from making editorial decisions if they identify a conflict of interest that could affect their judgment. In such cases, another member of the editorial board will be assigned to manage the manuscript.
MANAGEMENT OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Identification and evaluation
- TAll participants in the editorial process must declare any conflicts of interest at the start of their involvement.
- The editorial board will review these declarations and take the necessary steps to ensure transparency.
Conflict resolution
- If a conflict of interest is identified during the process, corrective measures will be taken, such as reassigning the manuscript to another editor or reviewer, or requesting clarification from the authors.
Transparency in publications
- In accepted manuscripts, any relevant conflict of interest will be indicated in a specific section of the publication.
Editorial Unión Científica believes that the proper management of conflicts of interest is essential to maintain the trust of the academic community and ensure the quality and objectivity of our publications. This is achieved through transparent collaboration among all involved parties.
